| Chapter 3 | Bike Parking: Providing convenient, secure places to park is an inexpensive and effective way to encourage bicycling. This chapter identifies five objectives designed to increase the availability of short-term (less than two hours) and long-term (e.g., indoor) bike parking throughout Chicago. |
| Objective 5 | Encourage bike storage facilities at existing multi-family residential buildings. |
Strategy 2 | Encourage construction of bike parking sheds to provide convenient and secure places for long-term parking. Prefabricated sheds that store up to 12 bicycles are available. Installation (e.g., in parking lots) is usually simple and inexpensive. If successful, expand initiative. |
| Peformance Measure | Construct 3-5 bike parking sheds by 2008. |
| Tracker Notes | Zero sheds have been constructed by January 30, 2012. |
